Cambodia bans selling, drinking alcohol during upcoming commune elections
Cambodia's Tourism Ministry issued a directive today to ban the selling and drinking of all types of alcohol for two days - a day before and on the commune elections day.
The move is to help ensure that the commune elections on June 5 are free and fair without violence, threat, intimidation and incidents, which could be compromised by alcohol consumption, the ministry’s permanent secretary of state Tith Chantha said in the directive, according to Xinhua.
