After 20 years in jail, Al-Maunah follower regrets manipulation by 'friend'

Serving a 20-year sentence behind bars has taught a former Al-Maunah prisoner, Mohd Ramli Mahmood a painful lesson for being manipulated at the innocent invitation of a friend to learn spiritual teachings.

Ramli, more fondly known as Abe Li, is now 70 years old and said he was too trusting when the “friend” said the teachings only centred on healing and martial arts, and he didn’t think twice about joining the outlawed militant Islamic deviant sect in 2000.
