Singapore facing rapidly aging society - report

People aged 65 and above accounted for 19.1 percent of the total citizens in Singapore this June, compared to 11.7 percent in 2013, according to the Population in Brief released by the National Population and Talent Division Friday, reported Xinhua.

The proportion of citizens aged 65 and above is rising at a faster pace compared to the last decade because ‘baby boomers’ born from 1946 to 1964 are entering the post-65 age range, read the report.
