Covid-19 (Jan 26): 172 new cases, 3 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 172 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 5,035,377.

Active cases currently stood at 9,627, down 12.0 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kelantan (9)
Perak (8)
Malacca (7)
Sabah (5)
Negeri Sembilan (4)
Penang (4)
Putrajaya (3)

Another three deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, all of which were declared as "brought in dead". They occurred in Selangor (2), and Kedah (1).

Over the past week, an average of 1.9 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,936 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 369 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 13 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (50) followed by Sabah (48) and Kedah (38).
