Covid-19 (Jan 15): 244 new cases, no deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 244 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

No deaths were reported for the second straight day. The last time this happened was in October 2020.

Active cases currently stood at 10,477, down 11.3 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Perak (15)
Penang (14)
Sarawak (11)
Kedah (10)
Pahang (8)
Putrajaya (8)
Negeri Sembilan (7)
Sabah (6)
Kelantan (3)

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,908 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 55 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 169 deaths last month and 209 deaths in November.

There are 449 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 20 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Sabah (56), followed by Selangor (41) and Kedah (16).
