Covid-19 (Dec 29): 679 new cases, 6 deaths
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 679 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.
Active cases currently stood at 12,670, down 23.3 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (94)
Sarawak (79)
Malacca (50)
Penang (44)
Perak (34)
Kedah (30)
Johor (26)
Kelantan (24)
Putrajaya (21)
Pahang (19)
Terengganu (14)
Negeri Sembilan (9)
Sabah (9)
Labuan (3)
Perlis (2)
Another six deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 1 was declared as "brought in dead".
Over the past week, an average of 3.9 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,851 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
There have been 167 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 209 deaths last month and 101 deaths in October.
There are 645 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 34 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (63) followed by Sabah (50) and Johor (24).
ICU use by Covid-19 patients has been steadily reducing in recent weeks and is now at a level not seen since October.
