Covid-19 (Dec 25): 609 new cases, no deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 609 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 13,997, down 22.1 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Penang (56)
Malacca (47)
Kedah (34)
Sarawak (30)
Negeri Sembilan (26)
Pahang (23)
Perak (21)
Putrajaya (21)
Kelantan (17)
Johor (15)
Sabah (11)
Terengganu (7)
Perlis (4)
Labuan (4)

No deaths caused by Covid-19 were reported yesterday - the first time since Oct 23.

Over the past week, an average of 3.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,831 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 147 deaths reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 209 deaths last month and 101 deaths in October.

There are 725 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 43 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (49), followed by Sabah (34) and Kedah (24).
