Covid-19 (Oct 23): 2,054 new cases, no deaths reported

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,054 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 27,378, up 23.5 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (422)
Perak (131)
Penang (131)
Negeri Sembilan (107)
Sabah (101)
Sarawak (52)
Malacca (48)
Kedah (47)
Johor (41)
Kelantan (36)
Pahang (30)
Putrajaya (17)
Terengganu (14)
Perlis (6)

There were no deaths reported yesterday. However, there have been 70 reported Covid-19 deaths this month.

For comparison, there were 158 deaths last month and 247 deaths in August.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,444 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 1,060 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 43 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (99) followed by Sabah (46) and Kedah (30).
