Covid-19 (Aug 23): 2,722 new cases, 11 deaths
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,722 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,762,552.
Active cases currently stood at 35,551, down 20.3 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Another 11 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which three were declared as "brought in dead".
Over the past week, an average of 9.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.4, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,166 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
The state with the highest death was Selangor (4) followed by Perak (3), Johor (1), Malacca (1), Negeri Sembilan (1) and Sarawak (1).
There are 1,384 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 68 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (93) followed by Sabah (89) and Johor (56).
