Covid-19 (Aug 22): 2,078 new cases, 10 fatalities
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 2,078 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,759,830.
Active cases stood at 37,696, down 11.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Another 10 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which three were declared as "brought in dead".
Over the past week, an average of 8.9 people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,155 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.
The state with the highest deaths was Johor (3) followed by Negeri Sembilan (2), Putrajaya (2), Kedah (1), Malacca (1) and Penang (1).
There are 1,409 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 69 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (95) followed by Sabah (70) and Johor (55).
