Covid-19 (Aug 20): 2,798 new cases, 6 fatalities
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 2,798 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,755,288.
Active cases stood at 40,890, down 10.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Perak (222)
Negeri Sembilan (161)
Malacca (129)
Penang (111)
Putrajaya (94)
Sarawak (90)
Kedah (86)
Johor (78)
Pahang (74)

Six deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as "brought in dead".
Over the past week, an average of eight people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.3, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,136 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.
The states with the highest deaths were Johor (2) and Selangor (2) followed by Negeri Sembilan (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).
There are 1,379 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 65 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Sabah (91) followed by Selangor (90) and Johor (68).
