Covid-19 (Aug 10): 4,896 new infections, ICU cases rising
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 4,896 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,719,394.
Active cases stood at 44,622, down -5.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Another 12 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 6 were declared as "brought in dead".
Deaths were reported in Johor (2), Kedah (2), Pahang (2), Kuala Lumpur (2), Malacca (1), Perak (1), Penang (1) and Selangor (1).
Over the past week, an average of 8.7 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.0, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on an uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,056 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
There have been 87 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 204 deaths last month and 89 deaths in June.
There are 1,577 Covid-19 patients hospitalised of which 68 are in intensive care.
The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care has not been this high since May 9.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (144) followed by Johor (98) and Sabah (89).
