Covid-19 (July 28): 3,926 new cases, 4 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,926 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 47,286, up 14.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Negeri Sembilan (244)

Malacca (151)
Kedah (142)
Johor (108)
Putrajaya (92)
Sarawak (80)
Pahang (71)

Another four deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as "brought in dead".

Deaths were reported in Selangor (2), Malacca (1) and Perak (1).

Over the past week, an average of 8.3 people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.3, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,946 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

There have been 181 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 89 deaths last month and 129 in May.

There are 1,539 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 60 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (145) followed by Sabah (94) and Johor (74).
