Covid-19 (July 27): 4,503 new cases, 10 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,503 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 46,906, up 20.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Another 10 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which four were declared as "brought in dead".

Deaths were reported in Perak (5), Selangor (3), Pahang (1) and Penang (1).

Over the past week, an average of 9.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.3, indicating that such deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,942 deaths have been attributed to the disease.

There have been 177 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 89 deaths last month and 129 in May.

Some 1,505 Covid-19 patients are in the hospital of which 59 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (148) followed by Johor (86) and Sabah (84).
