Covid-19 (July 25): 3,300 new cases, 9 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,300 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases stood at 46,316, up 29.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Another nine deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which three were declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Johor (2), Perak (2), Selangor (2), Sabah (1), Terengganu (1), and Putrajaya (1).

Over the past week, an average of 8.7 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 5.9, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on an uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,923 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 158 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 89 deaths last month and 129 deaths in May.

There are 1,512 Covid-19 patients hospitalised of which 51 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (144), followed by Johor (96), and Sabah (74).
