Covid-19 (July 17): 3,936 new cases, 7 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 3,936 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,622,981.

Active cases currently stood at 42,511, up 44.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (1,491)

Kuala Lumpur (1,055)

Perak (268)

Penang (232)

Sabah (231)

Negeri Sembilan (187)

Malacca (108)

Johor (86)

Kedah (80)

Pahang (70)

Sarawak (38)

Kelantan (32)

Terengganu (31)

Putrajaya (12)

Perlis (8)

Labuan (7)

Another 7 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 3 were declared as "brought in dead".

Over the past week, an average of 6.3 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 4.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,855 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

The state with the highest deaths was Johor (3) followed by Kedah (2), Malacca (1) and Pahang (1).

There are 1,484 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 61 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (166) followed by Johor (99) and Sabah (55).
