Covid-19 (June 6): 1,330 new cases, 2 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,330 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 21,630, down 13.2 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (266)
Penang (92)
Sabah (63)
Perak (58)
Negeri Sembilan (54)
Kedah (49)
Johor (43)
Malacca (30)
Kelantan (18)
Sarawak (16)
Putrajaya (16)
Pahang (9)
Terengganu (3)
Labuan (1)
Perlis (0)

Another two deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one involved a case declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Kelantan and Johor respectively.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,690 deaths have been attributed to the disease.

There have been 14 such deaths reported this month. For comparison, there were 129 deaths last month and 564 deaths in April.

There are 924 Covid-19 patients hospitalised, of which 22 are in intensive care.

Yesterday, 396 people were admitted for Covid-19 related complications. The number of daily admissions has dropped slowly since the recent peak of 649 seen on May 11.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (126) followed by Johor (92) and Sabah (61).
