Covid-19 (June 3): 1,844 new cases, one death

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry yesterday reported 1,844 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative infections to 4,512,040.

Health authorities also recorded one new fatality yesterday, the lowest since May 9. The death occurred in Sarawak.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,681 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Negeri Sembilan (112)
Penang (111)
Malacca (65)
Sabah (51)
Kedah (44)
Johor (39)
Sarawak (28)
Putrajaya (26)
Pahang (19)
Kelantan (14)

Perlis (5)
Labuan (0)

Active cases currently stood at 23,046, down 17.9 percent compared to 14 days ago.

Over the past week, an average of 3.3 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.8, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

There were 129 deaths last month and 564 deaths in April.

There are 961 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 27 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (184) followed by Sabah (85) and Johor (82).
