Covid-19 (June 1): 1,809 new cases, 2 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry recorded 1,809 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 23,048, down 22.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Negeri Sembilan (140)
Penang (113)
Malacca (64)
Putrajaya (39)
Kedah (36)
Johor (33)
Sabah (28)
Sarawak (23)
Pahang (13)
Kelantan (7)

Another two deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one were declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Johor and Malacca.

Over the past week, an average of 3.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 4.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,678 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 945 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 26 are in intensive care.

The number of Covid-19 patients who remain hospitalised have stayed under the 1,000 mark for four straight days.

Over the past week, an average of 427.3 people have been hospitalised daily for Covid-19, most of which experiencing very short stays.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (155) followed by Johor (106) and Sabah (59).
