Covid-19 (May 27): 1,877 new cases, two deaths

The Health Ministry yesterday reported 1,877 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative infections to 4,500,934.

Health authorities also recorded two new fatalities yesterday, putting the death toll at 35,658.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Negeri Sembilan (125)

Perak (121)

Penang (106)

Sabah (76)

Malacca (62)

Kedah (58)

Putrajaya (58)

Sarawak (46)

Johor (44)

Pahang (23)

Kelantan (11)

Perlis (3)

The active cases increased by 197 to 25,384 compared to the previous day but are still down by 14.7 percent in the last 14 days.

Both of the two newly reported deaths were in Selangor.

Over the past week, an average of 2.9 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 4.4, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

There have been 111 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 564 deaths last month and 2,235 deaths in March.

There are 1,098 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 30 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (126) followed by Johor (94) and Sabah (67).
