Covid-19 (May 13): 3,029 new cases, five deaths

The Health Ministry yesterday reported 3,029 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative infections to 4,473,500.

Health authorities also recorded five new fatalities yesterday, putting the death toll at 35,607.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Putrajaya (88)

The active cases increased by 1,913 to 28,734 but are still 36.8 percent lower compared to 14 days ago.

From the five new deaths, one was brought in dead. The fresh fatalities were in Selangor (2), Perlis (1), Penang (1) and Sabah (1).

Over the past week, an average of 4.4 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

There have been 60 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 564 deaths last month and 2,235 deaths in March.

There are 1,311 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 42 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (157) followed by Johor (107) and Sabah (72).
