Covid-19 (March 5): Record 33,406 new cases, 67 deaths
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 33,406 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 3,595,172.
That is a new record surpassing Friday's total of 33,209 new cases.
Active cases currently stand at 311,207, up 23.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Deaths
Another 67 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 23 were declared as 'brought in dead'.
Over the past week, an average of 77 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 39.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 33,173 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 997 deaths per 1 million population, and fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.
The state with the highest deaths was Selangor (14) followed by Kedah (12), Johor (10), Perak (8), Sabah (7), Malacca (4), Perlis (4), Kelantan (3), Pahang (3), Negeri Sembilan (1) and Penang (1).
There are 8,715 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 371 are in intensive care.
