Covid-19 (Jan 4): 2,842 cases, R-number not moving
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,842 new Covid-19 cases today.
As of yesterday, the R-number was 0.99. The number had stayed at that level since Jan 1.
As long as the R-number is below 1.00, the spread of Covid-19 is believed to be decelerating. No parts of the country have a R-number of above 1.00. The lowest is in Sarawak (0.75).
The number of hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the last seven days have declined by 5.1 percent compared to the preceding week.
The breakdown of new cases according to states will only be released after midnight. These are the figures for yesterday (Jan 3), where 2,690 new cases were reported:
