Covid-19 (Dec 10): 5,058 new cases
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported another 5,058 new Covid-19 cases.
The fresh infections were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 4997. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.
- Patients in ICU: 393
- Intubated: 212
As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 21.1 percent lower compared to a week ago.
Those who require intubation have also declined by 21.2 percent from a week ago.
The R-naught for the country as of yesterday was 0.97 - a R-naught of below 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 was decelerating.
The R-naught is above 1.00 in Penang, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Perlis. The figure is the lowest in Sarawak.
There was an average of 1,051 daily admissions for Covid-19 patients over the past week, down 2 percent from the previous period.
However, admissions in Negeri Sembilan is up 31 percent during the same period.
