Covid-19 (Dec 9): 5,446 new reported cases
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 5,446 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,678,465.
The new cases were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 5427. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.
- Patients in ICU: 419
- Intubated: 232
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the last seven days have declined by 6.3 percent compared to the preceding week.
However, bucking the national trend, hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in Negeri Sembilan (+15.7 percent) rose during the same period.
The Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
Sarawak's tally of 55 new cases yesterday was the state's lowest in 332 days since Jan 11.
