Covid-19 (Dec 3): 5,551 cases, hospitalisations declining

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 5,551 new Covid-19 cases today, amidst a declining number of hospitalisation of Covid-19 patients.

However, the new cases were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 5,301. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 499
  • Intubated: 269

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 9.5 percent compared to the previous period.

Apart from a slight increase in hospitalisations in Putrajaya, hospital admissions are down elsewhere.

Hospital bed utilisation by Covid-19 patients is above 80 percent only in Terengganu and Malacca.

The R-naught for the country is 0.96 after spending three days at 0.95. The R-naught is above 1.00 only in Selangor, Perlis and Putrajaya.

A breakdown of new cases according to state will only be released after midnight. These are yesterday's figures:

Clusters

To date, 228 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including six new clusters reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 3.4 percent from the 236 active clusters a week ago.
