Covid-19 (Nov 20): 5,859 cases

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 5,859 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,581,747.

The new infections were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 4970. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 529
  • Intubated: 261

Hospitalisation rates nationwide are about the same as seven days ago, but has increased by 10.4 percent in Johor during the said period.

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 19), where 6,355 new cases were reported, is as follows:

Cases in Penang yesterday were the highest in 22 days since Oct 29.

Clusters

To date, 240 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 1 new cluster reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 13.7 percent from the 278 active clusters a week ago.
