Covid-19 (Nov 17): 6,288 cases, hospitalisations up

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 6,288 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,563,153.

Hospital admissions have been on the rise, increasing by 6.9 percent in the last seven days compared to the preceding week.

Daily admissions in Klang Valley are up 17 percent. Other regions with higher admission rates are Malacca (+80 percent), Negeri Sembilan (+39 percent), Kedah (+18 percent) and Perak (+18 percent).

Nationally, the hospitalisation of Covid-19 patients is on a 10-day uptrend.

The R-naught (Covid-19 case reproduction rate) is above 1.00 in Selangor, Kelantan, Malacca, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Pahang.

The number of active Covid-19 cases is on the rise, as the number of patients who have recovered are less than new cases reported today. 

However, the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care is 1.5 percent lower. The number of intubated patients is also lower by 10.4 percent.

The Health Ministry is currently monitoring 247 Covid-19 clusters, down 17.7 percent from the 300 active clusters a week ago.

Another eight new clusters were classified by the Health Ministry today. Details were unavailable.
