Covid-19 (Nov 7): 4,343 cases, two new clusters in Malacca

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,343 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,506,309.

The number of fresh infections today is the lowest in 175 days, since May 16.

They comprised 4,126 Malaysians (95 percent) and 217 non-citizens (5 percent).

The fresh infections were surpassed by a total of 5,190 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 554
  • Intubated: 272

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 1.4 percent lower compared to a week ago.


Those who require intubation have also declined by 16.6 percent from a week ago.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 7.3 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Negeri Sembilan (+26.3 percent) and Terengganu (+16 percent) in the same period.

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry only publishes today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 6), where 4,701 new cases were reported, is as follows:

Clusters

To date, 325 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including seven new clusters reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 24.1 percent from the 428 active clusters a week ago.

The seven new clusters today comprised three community clusters (42.9 percent), three workplace clusters (42.9 percent) and one education cluster (14.3 percent).
