Covid-19 (Oct 1): 11,889 new cases, 1,893 in Klang Valley
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 11,889 new Covid-19 cases today.
Only three states - Sarawak, Selangor and Johor - reported new cases in the four digits.
There were 3,287 new cases reported in East Malaysia, which amounted to 27.6 percent of the new cases reported today.
As of last night, the R-naught for the country was 0.90. A figure of less than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 was decelerating.
Apart from Putrajaya, the R-naught was below 1.00 in every territory or state.
Today's active cases and reported deaths will only be released after midnight. For yesterday's figures, click here.
They were surpassed by a total of 15,891 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.
- Patients in ICU: 904 (850 confirmed; 54 suspected)
- Intubated: 492 (380 confirmed; 112 probable)
As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 14.3 percent lower compared to a week ago.
Those who require intubation have also declined by 17.3 percent from a week ago.
This is in addition to the 15,891 Covid-19 patients who recovered today, which exceeds the number of new cases and alleviates strain on the healthcare system.
