Lecturer uses Youtube to breathe life into Biology lessons for school students
Prior to becoming a biology lecturer, 34-year-old Firdaus Azis had a brief tenure teaching school students and it was these fond memories working with teenagers that led to the creation of his educational Youtube channel.
Upon graduating with a Masters Degree in Biology, Firdaus had a short teaching stint at MRSM Kuantan and SM Sains Alam Shah before taking up his position at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, UiTM Perlis.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, Firdaus said it was his early teaching years that inspired the setting up of his YouTube channel "Firdaus Mendel" - which he uses to teach Biology to Form 4 and Form 5 students.
"I always had an interest in school, and my first degree is in biology education. Even after leaving it for a long time, I recall the time I taught in school.
"I was thinking about how I can help (school) students, because now I am teaching at diploma and degree level.
"This is when I thought of YouTube...
