Covid-19 (Dec 5): 1,123 new cases vs 1,143 recoveries

The Health Ministry has recorded 1,123 new cases of Covid-19 as of noon today, of which 490 were from the Klang Valley.

There were also 1,143 recoveries and four deaths.

Leading indicators:

  • Active cases: 10,775↓ (27 fewer than the previous day)

  • Patients in ICU: 130 ↑ (1 more than the previous day, new record)

  • Intubated patients: 54 ↑ (1 more than the previous day)

  • Deaths: 4 

From the 1,123 new cases, five cases were imported.

Sabah returned to top the daily chart again today, with 391 positive cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (265), and Selangor (221).

Clusters linked to detention centres, meanwhile, contributed 40 cases (3.6 percent) today. They are the PTS Sibuga Cluster (27 cases) and Tembok Cluster (13 cases).

Two of the deaths were reported in Sabah while the other two were in Johor and Selangor.

The Health Ministry also announced four new infection clusters today, namely the Batu Tiga Cluster in Tawau, Sabah; Jalan Domis Cluster (Penampang and Tongod districts in Sabah); Andalas Cluster in Klang, Selangor; and Tapak Bina Bulatan Cluster (Cheras, Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur).

Five existing clusters, meanwhile, were declared as having ended. They are the Fores, Aero, Sungei Way, Baki and Seladah clusters.

Statistics released by the ministry revealed that 49 out of 187 active clusters recorded new cases today, with Tapak Bina Bulatan Cluster being the highest with 162 cases, followed by Ria-30 Cluster (51 cases), and Batu Tujuh Cluster (39 cases).
