Covid-19 (Nov 7): New cases and recoveries both in four digits, 3 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry recorded 1,168 new cases of Covid-19 nationwide as of this afternoon.

There were also 1,029 recoveries.

Most of the new cases were reported in Sabah (616 cases) followed by Selangor (247) and Labuan (104).

Of the new cases, 229 were from prison or temporary detention centre clusters.

Leading indicators in brief:

  • Active cases = 11,666 ↑ (136 more than the previous day)
  • Patients in intensive care = 87 ↑ (4 more than the previous day)

  • Intubated patients = 32 ↑ (4 more than the previous day)
  • Deaths = 3

According to the Health Ministry, three deaths were reported in Sabah.

All three deaths were from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, and the victims were two women and one man, aged 51 to 62.

The cumulative death toll for Sabah stands at 147.

According to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the ministry classified four new clusters today.

The Softwood LD cluster involved the Lahad Datu district in Sabah. The index case was detected through screening of individuals with symptoms on Oct 30. There are 14 positive cases in this cluster thus far.

The Teratai cluster involved the Klang, Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Hulu Langat districts in Selangor. The index case was detected on Nov 2. There are 74 positive cases in this cluster thus far.

The Tapak Bina Damanlela cluster involved the Lembah Pantai, Kepong and Titiwangsa districts in Kuala Lumpur. The index case was detected through detainee screening on Nov 6. The cluster has 15 positive cases in this cluster thus far.

The Mahkota cluster involved Selangor (Hulu Langat), Kuala Lumpur (Kepong, Titiwangsa), Putrajaya, and Sarawak (Sibu). The index case was detected through contact tracing on Oct 30. There are 9 positive cases in this cluster thus far.
