Covid-19 (Oct 27): 835 new cases, spike in N Sembilan cases
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 835 new Covid-19 cases. Negeri Sembilan reported more cases than all the Klang Valley localities combined.
Leading indicators in brief:
- Active cases = 9,903 ↑ (22nd straight day increase, a new record set)
- Patients in intensive care = 89 ↓ (5 less than previous day)
- Intubated patients = 32 ↑ (1 more than previous day)
- Deaths = 2
Both new deaths were reported in Sabah. The cumulative Covid-19 death for Sabah has reached 107.
Sabah's deaths are 44.95 percent of the nation's cumulative Covid-19 death toll (238).
Both deceased - a citizen and a foreigner - were declared dead at the Tawau Hospital. From their case numbers, it can be deduced that both passed away very soon before or after their Covid-19 test results were returned.
Of the 835 new cases reported as of noon today, five were import cases.
Sabah saw a large drop in new cases being reported. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said despite this drop, intensive screening and active case detection work is still ongoing in Sabah because there are 44 active clusters there.
Negeri Sembilan reported more cases than all the Klang Valley territories combined for the first time since the third wave began in September.

Negeri Sembilan (155 new cases)

- Existing clusters - 59 cases
- Close contact screening - 42 cases
- Other types of screening - 24 cases
Labuan (74 new cases)
- Existing clusters - 56 cases
- Limbungan cluster (new) - 13 cases
- Other types of screening - 5 cases
Sarawak (16 new cases)
- Existing clusters - 12 cases
- Close contact screening - 3 cases
- Other types of screening - 1 case
Penang (13 new cases)
- Existing clusters - 12 cases
- Other types of screening - 1 case
Perak (11 new cases)
- Existing clusters - 11 cases
Kuala Lumpur (9 new cases)

Two new clusters were reported today. The Lintas cluster involved the Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah and was detected during workplace screenings on Oct 26.
This cluster has six confirmed cases so far.
The Limbungan cluster involved Labuan. The index case was detected during close contact screening conducted on Oct 15. So far, 20 people have been attributed to this cluster.
There are currently 119 active Covid-19 clusters in the country of which two were classified today.
