Perakians who returned from Sabah between Sept 14-26 urged to get Covid-19 test

COVID-19 | The Perak government has urged those in the state who returned from Sabah between Sept 14 and 26 to get tested for Covid-19.

Those who returned from Sept 27 onwards are also urged to get a second test if they are showing symptoms.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said there were already five Covid-19 patients in Perak who tested positive after returning from Sabah.

Those who are under 14-day home quarantine, he said, should follow proper procedures, especially in isolating themselves from their families until their second Covid-19 swab test.

"Remember, the two weeks after the Sabah election is a very critical period following the rise in cases of Covid-19 nationwide," he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob rebutted public anger blaming politicians for the spike in cases.

He said that tourists and businesspersons also make up the statistics of travellers who were found positive for the virus in other states after visiting Sabah.

At present, those returning from Sabah need not undergo quarantine for 14 days, they instead need only wait at home for a few days for the swab test results. If it is negative they will be released from home quarantine.
