1. A record number of new Covid-19 cases - 287 - were reported yesterday, mostly in Sabah, Kedah and Selangor, which again led to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah pleading for Malaysians to take preventive measures seriously.

2. Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) said PAS does not merit consideration in terms of either appointing PAS members as unelected Sabah lawmakers or government positions.

3. The Agong has been discharged from the National Heart Institute. He has been warded since Sept 21. The palace said he would be resting for now.

4. A much-anticipated meeting of top Muafakat Nasional officials was aborted due to Covid-19 concerns. Among the agenda was supposed to be PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's claim that he had the numbers to form a new government.

5. Former law minister Liew Vui Keong passed away yesterday after battling a bout of lung infection. He will be buried on Monday.

6. The authorities are probing "porn chat groups" which have been sharing photographs of women without consent.

7. Former Umno supreme council member and Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz believes that his party should break ties with Bersatu by the time the next general election is called but should work with the ruling party for now to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

8. Three Election Commission officers have tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from Sabah, which had a state election last Saturday.

9. PKR has filed a lawsuit to claim RM10 million from Bersatu supreme council member Zuraida Kamaruddin for defecting earlier this year.

10. Prosecutors will call 10 witnesses against lawyer Shafee Abdullah who is facing trial for money laundering involving RM9.5 million.
