Itslengry02: Lahad Datu MP Mohamaddin Ketapi could be the reason why Warisan Plus may not win the Sabah state election this Saturday.
He should not make fun of the sacrifices made by those who were on the frontlines during the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff at the village of Tanduo.
An apology will not make people forget about the statement that was made. Even after Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin had apologised for his remark about student Veveonah Mosibin, people will not forget what he did.
Because of this, Warisan Plus is getting the heat. Why did Mohamaddin even mention this (that the 2013 incident was only a 'sandiwara' (staged act) by the federal government then)?
He should not make this as bahan kempen (campaign material). This is a matter of the security of the nation. Why did he even make a joke about it?
The conflict is real and as part of those who live in the area of eastern Sabah, I feel terrified of this because maybe it could happen at my hometown.
This is a lesson for any politician. Before you say anything, think twice.
Malaysia Bharu: His name sounds familiar. Wasn’t he the minister of tourism, arts, and culture in the Pakatan Harapan federal administration? God forbid!
Mohamaddin’s take on the Lahad Datu intrusion as well as on Covid-19 is so childish and stupid that any voter who has half a brain will reject him on polling day.
Isn’t this what is called - politicians who are bankrupt of ideas? Aside from the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), there are 101 other burning issues in Sabah that need the attention of the leaders.
This man has not only insulted the security forces, Covid-19 frontliners, and the health minister by his remarks, but he is a clear and present danger to incumbent Warisan chief minister Shafie Apdal who is campaigning on the noble platform of improving the welfare of the neglected and marginalised, as well as uniting Malaysians irrespective of race, religion and status.
Mohamaddin’s apology is meaningless considering the issues concerned were never in contention. He sounds so shallow, hollow, and totally out of touch with the abundance of real issues that need to be addressed in Sabah.
Dont Just Talk: It takes a real otak udang leader to make such an unnecessary statement when your party is fighting the Sabah state election.
This loose cannon does not seem to be a bright and intelligent leader like Shafie and is a liability to the Warisan party.
We hope that Sabahans will still support Shafie to rid Malaysia’s epidemic of corruption and also to put an end to those ‘katak’ politicians.
YellowRusa5552: If Warisan loses, the blame should go to him. That’s the problem when you want to sapu most of the seats even when you are short of winnable candidates. Even Mohamaddin’s tenure as tourism minister was lacklustre.
Warisan has four days to do damage control, but I think the damage has already been done. It will be a tight race to the finish line. Hopefully, the more ethical and less corrupt party will win.
Bobby0: Sabah's future cannot be compromised just because of a reckless statement made by a politician. The voters for the upcoming state election have to think of the future direction of their state government.
Politicians come and go. It is the voters that have to face the reality daily. So, do not vote using your emotions or feelings. Vote for leaders who really care for the future of the state.
Anak Malaysiaku: Yes, at the end of the day, the voters should decide which coalition would make their lives more comfortable.
Many politicians on both sides say the wrong things at the wrong times. Some even don't say anything but instead do things behind our back.
But the basic issue is that we still have incompetent leaders and many layers of corruption in government where they openly rip off the nation’s coffers.
Cogito Ergo Sum: Both sides have had their share of Don Quixotes.
But I think the biggest self-inflicted wounds are on Perikatan Nasional’s side when you have allies contesting against one another in many seats.
Billythekid: This is precisely the trouble with warped-mindset leaders who are actually wolves in sheep’s clothing.
This MP is a Trojan horse because at a critical time in the future, he cannot be called upon to back and shoulder the party's policies.
As far as his integrity is concerned, I have little faith in it. It is a huge stab in the back for Warisan and its partners.
Thickskin: This how BN/PN tries to create disunity. One person allegedly made a statement and the all the Warisan politicians are tarred together.
Why is the nation not disgusted with Najib Abdul Razak and his family for allegedly stealing from the nation, and the rakyat are not angry with Umno?
Adi in SQ: @Thickskin Precisely, Umno was ruling the country for most of their lives.
And for most of our lives, we’ve got poor pay, poor housing, poor equipment, and worse, their leaders allegedly stole billions and billions without caring on iota for us.
Surely, Warisan and Pakatan Harapan can do better. Vote with your brains!
