Ceramah in Sabah red zones limited to 30 pax
The Election Commission (EC) has placed new rules for the ongoing Sabah election campaign in "red zones" to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In a statement today, the EC said that ceramah activities are limited to just 30 pax and only two vote canvassers can enter a voter's house at one time.
Candidates are also encouraged to take their campaign online and use social media.
As of yesterday, there were three "red zones" - districts with more than 40 confirmed Covid-19 cases - in Sabah.
The district with the most cases is Tawau (435), followed by Lahad Datu (91), and Semporna (47).
Although a large number of active cases in southeast Sabah are related to a jail, there have been sporadic cases detected in other districts.
Currently, there are 10 "yellow zones" (40 cases or less) in the state and the remaining 12 districts are "green zones".
The ongoing Sabah election campaign has seen some vote canvassers contracting Covid-19 and at least three candidates placed under quarantine.
Sabah will go to the polls on Sept 26.
