Covid-19: 84 new cases, 95 recoveries and one death
Noor Hisham also reported one new patient succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll to 89, which translated to a mortality rate of 1.65 percent.
He said the latest death involves Patient 4,769, who is a 51-year-old Malaysian man.
"He had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease," Noor Hisham told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Noor Hisham said the victim was previously in close contact with Patient 2,726.
Patient 4,769 was treated at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Johor on April 13 and passed away on April 18 at 6.47pm.
He also announced that 95 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 3,197 people or 59.3 percent of total cases.
"As observed in the trend recently, the number of discharged patients exceeds the number of new reported cases," he said.
The latest figures mean there are still 2,103 active cases, namely Covid-19 patients who are still under treatment and can infect others.
Of those under treatment, 46 are in the intensive care unit (ICU), down from 49 yesterday.
Of the Covid-19 patients in ICU, 26 are on ventilators, the same as yesterday.
The released data is updated up to noon today.
Noor Hisham also reiterated the importance for people to comply with the movement control order in order to combat Covid-19.
He also urged them to practice good hygiene and social distancing.
