List of fake news viralled today
Following is the list of denials made by the relevant agencies to the Quick Response Team of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry on fake news that was viralled on social media today.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) denied a message which said the health protection scheme for the B40 group, “Skim Peduli Kesihatan Untuk Kumpulan B40 (Peka B40)”, provides assistance of RM250 a month as part of the Covid-19 stimulus package through the People-Centric Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin) that was announced yesterday.
MOH denied the recording of the alleged voice of Health deputy director-general (Research and Technical Support) Dr Christopher KC Lee, who is also head of the Covid-19 Team at Sungai Buloh Hospital, saying that letters received should be opened only after a day after because someone with Covid-19 had spit on them before they were distributed.
Serdang district police chief denied having issued a statement about a10-day “total lockdown” as viralled by a civil servant at the Serdang district police headquarters.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) denied an allegation that there was a directive from the inspector-general of police not allowing people in Selayang Indah, Selangor to go out of their house beginning 6pm and anyone who disobeyed would be arrested and charged.
Marang Police chief said viral photos showing a group of young men at Kampung Batangan, Marang in Terengganu ordered to lie face down on the roadside after being arrested for defying the movement control order (MCO) were untrue.
Penampang Police chief said photos showing the situation of detainees in the Penampang Police station lock-up were untrue.
The Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture has denied asking parties to obtain personal information of art activists and industry players for aid purposes.
The Perak Menteri Besar's office has denied allegations that the Hilir Perak district is under curfew.
The Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar denied allegations on the usage of oral thermometers for patients or those suspected of Covid-19.
The National Security Council has denied news categorising certain areas as red and yellow zones during the movement control order (MCO).
