Covid-19: T'ganu announces additional RM9.6m to help residents

CORONAVIRUS | The Terengganu state government will provide an additional RM9.6 million allocation under phase four of its stimulus package to be distributed to 32 state constituencies to lighten the burden of the public affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the incentive of RM300,000 for each state constituency will be given out to petty traders, labourers, settlers, taxi drivers and trishaw operators who have been identified by the community services centres and the village community management councils.

“This is in line with the announcement by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin that the movement control order has been extended to April 14.

“The state government feels that as a long-term measure, full attention must be given to the public, especially those earning daily and inconsistent wages,” he said in a statement on his Facebook account today.

He said through the Terengganu Stimulus Package in phases one and three, the state government had provided RM1.6 million in the form of essential goods to those affected by Covid-19.

Phase two involved the exemption and deferment of all types of payments such as student loans and rental for all business premises and low-cost houses under the state government.

Ahmad Samsuri also reminded the public to always comply with the instructions from the state government and authorities to ensure that the Covid-19 pandemic is curbed.

“At difficult times like these, we must give our full cooperation and compliance to instructions from the authorities. Continue to pray that Allah eases our affairs,” he said.
