Covid-19 death toll hits 21, first for Kedah

A 63-year-old man linked to the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster has become the country's 21st Covid-19 casualty.

Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah identified the man as Case 1,588. The victim had a history of chronic illnesses.

This marked the first Covid-19 related death in Kedah.

The man was tested positive on March 22 after developing symptoms and was treated at the Sultanah Bahiyah hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah on March 23.

"During treatment, his health deteriorated and passed away on March 26 at 4am. The Health Ministry expresses condolences to the family," said Noor Hisham.

As of noon yesterday, Malaysia has recorded 1,796 cases of Covid-19 infections.
