Passengers of Seremban-Sungai Petani bus sought over Covid-19

CORONAVIRUS | The Kulim district health office has urged passengers of a Seremban-Sungai Petani bus to contact the office immediately.

While the exact reason is not given, it said it is related to the Covid-19 outbreak.

In a Facebook post today, the health office said the bus had departed Seremban on March 16 at 8.30pm, which was the same night the movement restriction order was announced but had yet to come into effect.

The office said upon departing Seremban, the bus had made stops in Shah Alam, Ipoh, Kamunting, Bagan Serai, Parit Buntar, Nibong Tebal, Kulim, Butterworth, before finally arriving in Sungai Petani.

The bus had the licence plate number PLQ9689 and was operated by Bas Ekspress Jasmine.

“All passengers who boarded the bus are urged to contact the Kulim district health office operations room at 04-4949121.

“Your cooperation is much appreciated,” it said.

Previously, the Kuantan district health office had made a similar call for passengers of another long-distance bus to come forward.

The bus had travelled from Larkin Sentral station in Johor Bharu to Kuantan Terminal Sentral, also on the night of March 16.

All passengers have since reported to the health office.

According to Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, one passenger who had been tested for Covid-19 boarded the bus in violation of quarantine rules.

The test takes up to 24 hours to complete, and subsequently found the passenger had been infected with the disease.
