Rajhesh Vaidhya's M'sian concert postponed amid Covid-19 concerns
CORONAVIRUS | The Rajhesh Vaidhya Live in KL concert, which was scheduled this Sunday (March 15), has been postponed to July 25 amid heightened concerns over the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
Founder of Swara Layam House of Music and Arts and the organiser of the concert, Bawani Balachandran, said the concert will remain at Auditorium Dewan Sivik, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
“We made this decision due to the growing concerns of Coivd-19. We deeply regret and truly understand the disappointment of the audience, but we need to prioritise the safety and health aspects of our partners, students, public and artist,” she told Bernama.
Bawani said ticket holders can discuss with the organisers on whether to retain the tickets or seek a refund.
The three-hour show will feature the veena - a classical musical instrument - in prominence and will be divided into segments of classical Indian music (Carnatic), fusion, and contemporary/film music.
Among the highlights will be Rajhesh, a renowned veena player from India, plucking the veena strings for ‘Cindai’, a traditional Malay pop song of famous Malaysian songstress Siti Nurhaliza - a sample clip of which was shared by many on Youtube.
A Kalaimamani awardee from Tamil Nadu, Vaidhya’s rendition of national anthem ‘Negaraku’ has taken social media by storm as well.
Bawani said ticket sales from the concert, organised in collaboration with Yayasan Suara Rakyat Malaysia, will allow underprivileged children to learn free music education from Swara Layam House of Music and Arts.
Tickets are priced at RM1000 for diamond, RM500 (platinum), RM299 (gold), RM199 (silver) and RM99 (bronze). Tickets can be purchased through airasiaredtix.com.
