PKR launch petition to seek Pemanis rep's resignation

Johor PKR will launch a petition to seek the resignation of Pemanis state assemblyperson Chong Fat Full.

At a press conference in Johor Bahru today, Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (photo) said his party will canvass for signatures among Pemanis voters.

"The petition is to call for his immediate resignation. This has to do with dignity and the mandate given by the public," said Syed Ibrahim.

The petition will be handled by Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail.

Chong was the last of 12 assemblypersons who defected from Pakatan Harapan to form a new coalition government with Benut assemblyperson Hasni Mohammad at the helm.

Currently, the coalition government in Johor consist of 29 state assemblypersons, two more than the opposition.

Chong is a first-time lawmaker and has been absorbed into the new state cabinet.

During the last general election, PKR won five seats in the Johor legislative assembly.

The wave of defections began last week following Bersatu's decision to pull out Harapan at the federal level to form a new government with Umno, PAS and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
