Being autistic not hindrance for Akmal Hannan to excel in SPM
Being autistic had never been an excuse for Akmal Hannan Zulkeflie not to do well in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Despite having communication and hearing problems, the former student of Sekolah Agama Menengah Bestari, Subang Jaya had always been determined not to let his disabilities be a hindrance to excel like other normal students.
Akmal Hannan was all smiles when he learned that he had scored 11 As at a press conference to announce the 2019 SPM result at the Selangor Education Department office, today.
The youngest of four siblings, Akmal Hannan said his teachers and friends had always supported and motivated him to study hard to ensure that he succeeds just like the others.
“The teachers were never tired of my endless questions.
“I once failed in my Mathematics but my friends kept encouraging me to keep practising and not give up,” he said when met after collecting his SPM result here.
When asked for the secret of his success, Akmal Hannan said it was important to have a curious mind and be open to learn.
“When in doubt, don’t hesitate to consult your teachers,” he added. - Bernama
