Yoursay: US spied on others and yet accuses China of doing the same

YOURSAY | 'No wonder the US is so scared of Huawei.'

M'sia among countries that bought 'rigged' ware from CIA: report

Green Penang: Isn't it hilarious how top US officials travel around the world telling all and sundry their security would be compromised if they bought products and services from China’s multinational technology giant Huawei or Russian-created cybersecurity company Kaspersky, yet have been actively spying on everyone using equipment the US sold?

Such an expose by The Washington Post gives credence to the theory that the strongest reason for the US to oppose Huawei is because they can't use Huawei equipment to spy on others. Possible.

Maybe Malaysia should invent its own encryption machines. But then, why bother since our security agencies frequently refuse to see even the most obvious things?

Anon 9375: No wonder the US is so scared of Huawei. Do they honestly think people don't know every country spies on one another, in one way or another?

Anonymous_1527: How funny is this? If the report is true, the US still has the cheek to tell others of Huawei's alleged threat on security?

They always think that they are the only world leader and everyone else must follow what they want others to do and how to act, no matter right or wrong, ethical or not.

Anonymous 7143: The Americans are extremely hypocritical. They accuse Huawei of spying, but in actual fact, they are spying on everyone.

It’s been reported that the US purportedly hacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel's phone. I have lost all respect for them.

My 2 Cents: Replying to the comment above, who says Americans are hypocrites? They were only spying in order to topple disobedient regimes, carrying out some assassinations, creating unrest only in selected countries, all in the interest of the free world.

Please don't use words like "insidious and unscrupulous" to describe this “great country”.

Xiao Zhu: The US is no angel. Each time they get involved in another country’s affairs, hundreds or thousands are killed.

When they tried to look for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, they found nothing in the end. The US can't beat China in 5G technology and uses bully tactics instead.

Analyze This: See what a free press can do? Here's a fine piece from The Washington Post - the same newspaper that exposed the corruption, and caused the resignation of former US president Richard Nixon.

Unfortunately, it seems much harder to get rid of sitting US President Donald Trump.

Just be glad there are two sides to counteract each other. At least one side is not interested in censorship. The piece itself in The Washington Post proves that. Such an article in China would result in the death penalty.

Solo: It takes a crook to know one. Intel, Cisco and Huawei are all beholden to their masters.

Make your own equipment if you want to do it right.

After two-decade quest to become M'sia PM, Anwar says he can wait a bit more

Anonymous_1543: Finally, PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim has opened his mouth to put the succession issue to rest and we hope he calls his supporters to stop raising the matter.

I hope he has patched up with his party deputy Azmin Ali and company, such that uncertainty is not created by a shift of political loyalties at the end of the year by realignments of PKR and Umno MPs.

Anwar appears confident that he has the MPs' votes but he might be surprised by Sabah and Sarawak.

RR: From a national point of view we do not have a charismatic and all-embracing leader to take up the premiership after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The one who comes nearest is Anwar, who has been steadfastly waiting for two decades. But he cannot survive if he does not get the support of the highly polarised Malay political groups. He has to do a good balancing act and that is if Mahathir graciously gives the top spot to him.

Nothing is certain till then and uncertainty is bad for the country in terms of political stability and economic wellbeing.

Behsaikong: This delay should not have happened and the extension should not have been taken for granted by the sitting PM.

But kudos to Anwar for being gentlemanly in not forcing the issue. But further extension beyond the extra six months cannot be tolerated.

A head of government's work can never be finished to the incumbent's personal satisfaction or wishes.

Another Komentar: It was at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) in 1998 that Al Gore and other Western leaders rebuked Mahathir for the arrest and treatment of Anwar and the Reformasi movement.

Mahathir seethed with anger at the open humiliation. Now Mahathir, for no apparent reason, said he would step down after the Apec conference in November.

With all the rumblings and white noise, it’s not only conspiracy theorists to imagine another plot to deny Anwar again.

They say history repeats itself and many old enough would remember the straight face denial from Mahathir and Anwar before the former finally sacked the latter.

Existential Turd: I don't care if Anwar is willing to wait for another year or 20 years, or even if the next PM is Anwar.

I just think that Mahathir should not be the PM anymore.
