Man's hand severed by son in family argument
A contract worker’s right hand was severed at the wrist when slashed by his son during a family argument at Taman Keladi in Sungai Petani, Kedah, yesterday.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Adzli Abu Shah said the victim was arguing with his wife when their 29-year-old son intervened to calm down the situation.
However, he said the son was chased out by the father, but he returned home at about 8.30pm and attacked the older man with a machete.
“The victim, aged 53, was slashed on the wrist when shielding himself from the attack,” he said in a statement today.
He said both the victim and his son were believed to be drunk at that time.
Police have detained the suspect, who has a previous record for causing hurt, for investigation.
