AirAsia extends suspension of Wuhan flights until end of next month
CORONAVIRUS | The suspension of AirAsia flights from Kota Kinabalu, Bangkok and Phuket to Wuhan, China will now be extended until Feb 29.
The budget airline is also making provisions for guests with flight bookings to and from all destinations in mainland China to obtain a credit account or a full refund, should they wish.
"Certain destinations within AirAsia’s flight network have imposed travel bans for guests based on nationalities, cities of origin, travel history or the purpose of travel.
"Guests are recommended to check with respective governments or embassy offices prior to travel," said AirAsia in a statement today.
This comes as the death toll from the coronavirus, which has Wuhan as its epicentre, reached 106.
AirAsia said that customers can choose to retain the value of their fare in their AirAsia loyalty account for future travel to be redeemed for booking within 90 calendar days from the issuance date, or a full refund.
This is applicable for all flights to and from mainland China until Feb 15 (or Feb 29 for flights to and from Wuhan only) that was ticketed prior to Jan 28.
AirAsia said it is closely monitoring the situation and reserves the right to announce further policies according to the latest developments.
