Sabah, federal govts to ensure payments made to BSH recipients in remote areas

Sabah will work together with the federal government to send a team to every district in the remote interiors to ensure that recipients of the cost of living aid (BSH) are duly paid.

Sabah state secretary Safar Untong (photo, above) said the team comprising representatives from the district office, federal financial office, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) have been assigned to see that the 9,380 BSH recipients are each given RM300 cash vouchers.

He said this was to ensure that those who have not opened a bank account or have difficulties leaving their homes are not deprived of the benefit.

“All BSH recipients from this group are expected to receive the payment latest by March 15,” he told reporters at a BSH coordination meeting with state and federal government agencies today.

Also present were Sabah federal secretary Samsuni Mohd Nor and Public Service Department director Datu Rosmadi Sulai.

Safar added that this year 350,766 BSH recipients in Sabah would receive the payment through their bank accounts.
